From 1st January 2007 Bulgarians and Romanians have the right to come to the UK visa free and can stay for up to 3 months, but these citizens have no general right to work in the UK.

However they can stay with families as Au Pairs, under the restrictions of the Au Pair programme. 

A Bulgarian or Romanian who wants to become an Au Pair should apply on our website. Application Forms for Au Pair programme are available here. Once the Au Pair Application Form is completed by you, our team will place you in maximum 1 week.

Once an au pair has been in place for a year he/she is entitled to reside and work freely in the UK.    

THIS SHOULD ENCOURAGE A LOT MORE YOUNG PEOPLE TO WANT TO BE AN AU PAIR IN ENGLAND – AFTER ONE YEAR AS AN AU PAIR THEY WILL BE ALLOWED TO GET A PROPER JOB!!!!
